                Hi,
I've see some news on facebook suggesting that HBA has financial difficulty and the company may not be holding races next year but is still taking funds on their web site. Some suggestions it has gone bust !

This would be such as shame as I like llaneli half and especially the HBA 5,10,20 one of my few decent races this year !

does anyone know this for sure... quite a few from the club have not seen the Facebook posts .. so worth getting this on the forum for what is the actual position.

i'm gutted for the spring , as llaneli is much cheaper than the bath half (and closer), I don't fancy Wokingham as its miles away, same with reading too.. i'm not much of a reader anyhow ;-) (i'll get my jacket or coat !).

ps.. thanks for all the cheers today..

 James the Bruce.

I believe Tim Green checked their listing out at Company's House and they were listed as insolvent. Don't touch would seem to be the best course of action. |

Shame to see another race bite the dust. I have seen a lot of races come and go. A good one was the Penarth 10k and the Barry 5k (not because Mick lives there) but it was quite a challenge race with a hill half way round. May I recommend the Forest of Dean half in March. Challenging but brilliant. |

I am doing Wokingham as im targeting this one as my next PB attempt. Im not that worried about speedwork at present as what is important is getting back to basics! My stamina is shot so once I am running consistently twice a day and I feel my stamina is on its way to where it needs to be I will be looking at speedwork. Im doing a 6.5 bike and 6.5 mile run 5 days a week and will be building that up to a to two runs a day. I will then start building my long runs and perhaps around then look to developing my speed. Wokingham is perfect as February 12th will give me a fighting chance and im in a much better situation than last year. I was 2 minutes short but couldnt train through Christmas and the weather was awful for the last 3 miles! Im going to book a hotel on the start line and give it my best shot. No point trying to do speedwork when you havent got any consistency or momentum and thats my main concern right now. I do really enjoy the sessions though! |
