Hi Croups, where is the watering hole after the race? Gatekeeper maybe !
I am recovering from a bug so won't visit the club tonight.
Cheers...

Sadly, like a few of us I shall be dropping into Cafe Nero on Castle Street after the race for coffee and cake. Not planning on a pint.

Thanks for the info Marcus.
This coffee and cake is seriously damaging to our age old title, that we are a Drinking Club with a bit of a running problem !!.
I will have a beer or 2 in the Gatekeeper lol.
Thanks in advance to all marshaling the race tomorrow.
Good weather forecasted so hopefully a few pbs.
Good luck Croups....

Good luck everyone

I'm not running tomorrow, but am supporting. And as a supporter of traditions I may join you Steve (with my Uncle Graeme..)

"Go smash it", as the young people say

Well done Croups, I heard a few cracking times were achieved.I struggled from half way but kind of expected it lol.
Made the Gatekeeper for food and beer tho. Bumped into Eddie Lee , Alan Garrett and Tony Cazana !! . Top runners back in the day and still top guys.
Hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Great running conditions ànd support from Croups and others all ThumpUp around the route.
Cheers.

Don't believe this race is only 15 years old!
In its first year 1983, we provided both the winners, and 35 years on, Sandy Johnston came within one second of winning the Over 65s. Beccy Richardson, now Cameron, and living in Dublin, won for us in 1992, whilst if you've been on facebook this evening you will know that Course Director Phil Cook won this race 25 years ago in his lifetime best of 67:12. And to be really cheeky, it's the largest half marathon in the UK to be run on a legitimate course for record purposes (GNR being point to point and downhill, but they don't mention that on the BBC).

Mick, it confused me, as it is a play on words (their words). They are correct in saying it is 15 years old within the title the "Cardiff half marathon" as the Barnado's charity revived it as such in 2003. It was previously titled the Western Mail half marathon. It became a stand alone half marathon in 1987, before that it was the held simultaneously with the Western Mail full marathon.
I can also fill in some missing results, 1984 lady result, Melissa Watson (86 mins) 1985 Marcus's time was 67.58 lady result, Mariann Layden (Brecon Bounders)(93.16 mins)
1986 Steve Brace (68.23 mins) Sally James (79 mins) Sorry don't know the 1988 result.
