No excuses.

The next meeting of the Welsh Masters will be held in Cardiff - Cardiff Met (Cyncoed Rd, Cardiff CF23 6XD), 22nd May 2019.

Events

Provisional Timetable:
19:00 400m 18:45 Javelin (W+M60)
19:20 1500m 18:45 Shot (M35+M50)
19:40 100m 19:45 High Jump
20:00 800m 19:45 Shot (W + M60)
20:30 4 x 200m 19:45 Javelin (M35 + M50), Long Jump

Closing date for entry via British Masters' website is 14th May 2019

If you are interested in competing then there will be "no entry on the day".

The entry system did restrict the number of athletes attending the Swansea meeting, I suspect, but it is well worth persevering and completing your entry.

Remember also that a track 1500m is one of the events in the club's Short Course Championship.

There's an entry fee of £5 but this entitles you to compete in as many events as you can fit in.

We have made a promising start to the league and hope that we can put out a team of athletes across all events.

If you haven't run on the track/thrown/jumped recently then... be cautious.

Hope to see you there.

Thanks for posting this Mike.

Just checking, do you know if this is only open to those who are members of British Masters? I know it used to be possible to enter as a guest, but with the online entry it doesn’t look like it is an option.

Hi Jenny, not sure if you do need to be a welsh masters to do this, but why not try entering, omitting your wmaa number if you're not registered, and see if your entry is accepted ?
I'm up for making up a relay team if anyone else wants to join me?

Hi Jenny, I'm pretty sure you can run as a guest but I think you got to open an account at BMAFopentrack as you need to pay online for entry to all races/events. https://bmaf.opentrack.r...ounts/login/?next=/about

I hope this helps.

Glad you're thinking about competing Jenny.
I'll check with Mel tonight at the club.

There were guests from other regions at Swansea so it may be possible. However, that might be as a result of local master's membership.

I've sent a query to Welsh Masters and I await their reply..

Just had a reply from Brett Davis -

"They don’t have to be old enough but do have to be members of Welsh Masters which you can join regardless of age (or member of other masters association although clearly unlikely for a Les Croupiers member)."

Consequently, yep, you've got to join Welsh Masters or Masters of any other "region" to compete.
