I don't even think about it.
Running is such a pleasure that I only concern myself with things I can control.

I can't see races as we used to know them coming back any time soon, as for the rest I really don't know.
There are other things though, the virtual races are good, we'll all be brilliant at time trials when we get back together!

I was going to post my technocratic response but read Mick's post and was pleasantly humbled!

I think it's best for people not to get their hopes up with regards to races this calendar year.
It would be nice to have more certainty of course but there is no perfect answer and there really isn't much clarity right now at a public health/government level.

For me it's just a shame that a sport of individual pursuit which also has such a supportive and comradely spirit cannot offer quite so much of the latter at the minute.
I suspect lots of us are missing the company and networking elements alike.

We should really focus on keeping ourselves and others enjoying their running and feeling supported. It's important for so many different reasons!
For me, it's also a personal battle with pollen over the next few months! I really want those cold (+/- wet) weekend long runs back! Count me in when we can do it again James

Totally agree with Mick. It's a shame there are no races at present or any time soon. But its out of our hands and for me personally it has given me the chance to build my mileage up over the last few months which had made me into a stronger runner. So the way I'm looking at it, is that I'll continue to train hard, enjoy the process and when races do restart I'll be fitter, stronger and faster. Hope everyone is safe and well 👍

It's an interesting question, and Mick's response is probably the wisest and most suitable response to make.

For those of us caught by the running bug we have continued running, while missing the company no doubt (especially on those longer runs). I really miss club nights on a Thursday and my post-parkrun cuppa and catch-up. Doing some of this 'virtually' is better than not doing it, but not a proper substitute.

It will also be interesting to see what happens post-lockdown. I'm sure more people have taken up running, so it will be interesting to see if, for example, that translates into even greater parkrun numbers once it restarts.

it doesn't matter when someone says it's ok for the parkrun or any other event is ok to start up again.
you have to decide for yourselves weather the governments guidance is for you.
just because the government, or any other governing body says something is aloud, i'm going to decide for myself weather i'm happy with that.

i think Barry 40 will be ON next year
