It looks as if restrictions of some sort will be in operation for a good portion of next year, with most races already being cancelled or postponed until the end of the year at the least.

In view of this we have decided to go for another set of Virtual Champs but running from the start of the year and right through. Essentially they will be run under whatever the local rules are on the date of the event.
For example, if we are in full lockdown then it will be a totally virtual event. However if we can run a wave start event then we will use that format.

Whilst we ran Long and Short Course Virtual Champs in 2020, It has been decided to make one change from this set up.
For ALL the Club Championship events there will be a selected course which everyone will run and a time window within which you must do your run (starting at 00:01 on the Thursday and finishing at 23:59 on the Sunday) in order to qualify for the Club Champs, you can still run a different course to enter the CRE events on Open Track if you wish, but these will be removed from the Club results.

Here is a breakdown of the full seasons Club Championships:

Long Course Champs: 13 events with 6 to score
14/01 - 17/01: Old Father Time 5 mile
28/01 - 31/01: Club 10 mile
18/02 - 21/02: LCRC 15km
18/03 - 21/03: CRE Taff Trail Half Marathon
28/08 - 29/08 CPR 2 Day Challenge
09/09 - 12/09: CLC 5 mile Cancelled
23/09 - 26/09: CLC 8km: Cancelled
14/10 - 17/10: CLC 10km
28/10 - 31/10: CLC 15km
11/11 - 14/11: CLC 10 mile
25/11 - 28/11: CLC HM
16/12 - 19/12: Festive 10km
30/12 - 02/01/22: Old Father Time 5 mile

Short Course Champs: 14 events with 6 to score
15/04 - 18/04: Eikeden Relay 7km
06/05 - 09/05: Bannister Mile
13/05 - 16/05: CSS 1 mile
27/05 - 30/05: CSS 2 mile
03/06 - 06/06: CSS 3 mile
17/06 - 20/06: CSS 4 mile
01/07 - 04/07: CSC 1km
08/07 - 11/07: CSC 2km
15/07 - 18/07: CSC 3km
22/07 - 25/07: CSC 4km
29/07 - 01/08: LCRC 5km TT
05/08 - 08/08: Sizzler 5km

Cross Country Champs: 7 events, 5 to score
04/02 - 07/02: XC race 1
25/02 - 28/02: XC race 2
11/03 - 14/03: XC race 3
01/04 - 04/04: XC race 4
XC Events have now deferred to the actual Gwent League.

Off Road Champs: 10 events with 6 to score
21/01 - 24/01: Race 1
11/02 - 14/02: Race 2
25/03 - 28/03: Race 3
08/04 - 11/04: Race 4
20/05 - 23/05: Race 5
12/08 - 15/08: Race 6
16/09 - 19/09: Race 7 Cancelled
21/10 - 24/10: Race 8
18/11 - 21/11: Race 9
09/12 - 12/12: Race 10

Obviously this is not an ideal situation to run Club Championships but we feel it is important to have some form of competition within the club so we would love you all to take part.

Please remember though, current regulations mean that under Tier 4 restrictions you must excercise from your door so you may have to run or cycle to the start, run the event and then run or cycle home.

We appreciate that some of you live further afield and that makes this impractical. This is why we have offered 13 or 14 different races to allow you to compete.

Karen has let me know details of this weekend's off road virtual race (via Facebook), but it may be worthwhile letting others know who don't use Facebook. I understand it's 5 miles this time and Marcus has asked us to try to include some hills if possible! Laugh

No worries Marcus - I realise there aren't many of us dinosaurs left who don't use Facebook, and I know you're a busy man. Hope you're doing OK.

For those interested, this week is XC race number 3 - I have been told it's 10km for men and 6km for women. I ran mine at lunchtime today and definitely felt the authenticity of a cross country race! Very muddy/boggy on the fields in Hailey Park and gale conditions at times - who said running was meant to be fun?! Laugh

I would like to echo Mike's comments. I am really appreciating the effort in putting these events together. I was out yesterday doing my half and it is definitely tougher the further the distance but it was good in the end. I also had the bonus of seeing Scholey and Johnson doing their runs at the same time!

Hi Terry,
Currently we plan to keep them as LCRC only races contributing to the Club Champs. If that changes I'll let you, and everyone else know.
