Gwent League XC: Race 1,
Saturday 16th October 2021 Llandaff Fields, Cardiff

WOOHOO! It's back after a year off. It's time for us to lace up the spikes, put on the Green and Red and sign up for the Gwent League round 1 in Llandaff Fields.

We have a great history with the GL and we always turn out a huge amount of runners. If you are new to the Club we really would like to continue that tradition. Every runner who completes the whole season even get a Club mug to celebrate the achievement. Also, the Club will pay your entry to all of the rounds you are available for.

Claire Michelle Jacobs will be taking the names for the ladies race and I shall be taking names for the mens and the MM65.

Here are the fixtures that have been announced for now: https://www.gwent-league.org.uk/fixtures.html

If you are available for Race 1 please pop your name below

Hi Marcus - can you put me down to run please? I'm running Swansea Half the next day so I will be on my best behaviour and taking it much easier than usual. BigGrin

South Wales Regional Cross Country Champs

To be held within the Cardiff Cross Challenge October 16th

• Clubs to register athletes by sending a list (club/name/URN/age group) to Jamie Clode. If necessary, individuals to register separately. All athletes must qualify for South Wales via birth, 9-month residence, or retention.
• All athletes must be registered members of a club and Welsh Athletics
• Email entries to Jamie Clode (South@welshathletics.org ).
• No on the day registration.
• Results will be produced following publication of the Gwent League results. Medals will be awarded after this, and hopefully by the next Gwent League meeting.
• In principle, all athletes of South Wales clubs will be included in South Wales results. The purpose of pre-registration is for clubs/athletes to acknowledge the Championships, and for athletes from non-South clubs to be included.
• Medals for individual 1st/2nd/3rd in each age category up to Senior.
• Team medals (4 per team) for 1st/2nd/3rd in each age category up to Senior. U17/U20 Women will count as one age group for team results.
Selection for Welsh Inter-Regional Championships - Nov 20th - Brecon
• 15 athletes selected per team (as previous years).
• The First 6 in each age category in South Wales Championships are selected automatically.
• Further athletes selected on the basis of South Wales Championships and previous cross-country, road & track performance.
• All selected athletes will receive notification and must confirm acceptance of selection.

**I will automatically enter any athletes who have expressed interest in running at the Gwent League on 16th October. If you do not wish to enter please let me know**

Hi Marcus - I'm afraid I've picked up a stupid football-related injury so won't be able to run this weekend after all. I'll confirm about Stu later but I think he may not be up for running either. Can you please remove me from your list and I'll let you know soon if you should also be removing Stu.

Thanks,

Chad

Thanks Marcus - part of me is still toying with running, though the physio has warned me off and it's probably not sensible to do cross country if I'm not confident in the hamstring is it? ;-)

Marcus - I've just spoken to Stu and he's confirmed he's not up to it either. Please can you remove him from the list for tomorrow? We've talked about maybe training him up for the fixture in November. 🙂
