Hey, just wondering if anybody is planning on doing this 10K road race on November 2nd?

It's in Cwn Afan (near Port Talbot) and goes up the road to Pontrhydyfen, then down the cycle path alongside the river (up hill and back down).
I'm going as I used to live in Cwn Afan so this is my old stomping ground.:-)

I'd be interested to hear from anyone planning to go too as I'm currently stuck for transport so am on the look out for a lift.......... pretty please. It'll be a nice day out. :-)

Cheers. Claire

I am entered Claire but I am not sure if my family is coming along for the ride currently. If I have a space in the car you are welcome to it.

I did this one a while ago and it is a good but challenging 10k. However they are stingy with the t - shirts as they give them out to first 30 ( I think ) runners across the finish line. Which I was not good especially when some runners had done the 5k and walked away with 2 t- shirts! You may get last years t - shirt if there is any left but not necessary in your size. As the lady who was giving them out told my father ' you're lucky to get one!' As it was we never did it again. For the tough course it was I felt everyone should of got a t-shirt. It may changed now. Which is why I'm not keen on races that limit their t - shirts.! You do a get a medal at the Forest of Dean which is some thing but this one nothing! I've always believe everyone that everyone that crosses the finish line should receive a t -shirt or whatever is offered as everyone trained hard to completed that race, regardless of where they finish.

If there is a space in your car Marcus that would be great thanks. :-) If not my partner has a bike race in Swansea so can drop me off en-route and I can jump on the train home, so one way or another I will run this race! :-)

I came 189th last year and managed to get a tee shirt. The website for this year says the first 200 runners get one. I've never come across this practice of limiting the finishing goodies before, I was surprised to hear about it at this event last year and haven't heard of it anywhere else. Although I do have to ask myself whether I really need another over-sized, white cotton tee, I was more grateful for the banana they gave me at the end last year! lol.

Claire, I can say with certainty now that there will be space in the car as my kids are away for the weekend and returning the sunday. Therefore my wife is staying home to greet the little perishers.

You are welcome to a lift and I also have another 3 spaces if anyone wants in.

Marcus.

Yes, entries on the day close at 10:30am. I need to enter myself as just missed the deadline!

Brilliant Marcus, thanks ever-so much. Let me know what time and I'll meet you down at the club.

Claire,
I am not going to be able to make this race now I am afraid. Something has come up that I need to deal with, plus I think I should really recover properly after Snowdonia anyway. If you like, I can see whether they will transfer my entry to you though if you can get up there anyway.

Sorry,
Marcus.
