Hi folks,
Just wondering where people go in Cardiff for their running shoes?
I would like a place with a treadmill in store so I can try them out - if such a place exists?

I've had my current trainers for at least 4 years now! I'm sure you all disapprove immensely so please let me know where I can go for some advise on getting the new pair. Cheers. CJ.

Moti on Albany Road have a readmill in store. Run and Become on St Mary's Street don't have a treadmill, but let you try the shoes before you buy. I use both stores and have no real probs with either.

Run and become let me have the trainers for a week and to use only on a treadmill, which I thought was brilliant though they are expensive.

The staff at Run and Become are really helpful and willing to spend time finding you the right shoe. In my opinion this more than makes up for the lack of a treadmill.

Run and Become have always been fair with me. I can't believe your trainers are that old.

Run and become to try them out, but in the future once you know which shoes you like, get them online from startfitness or sportshoes, much cheaper. Treadmill trials are over rated as you'll run differently on them to how you would on the road. I don't agree with changing shoes after set amounts of time or miles, depends on how they feel and how the grip lasts.

I've bought (road and fell) from Moti a couple of times - they have video analysis on their treadmill. Very helpful staff.

Thanks folks.
Just wanted to let you know that I have been down to Moti today (for convenience and treadmill) and the staff were great. I wanted somewhere with a treadmill because although it's very different to road running I wanted the opportunity to run in the shoes for a few minutes before buying them, rather than making a decision based on a few steps around the shop.

I've brought a new pair of runners (which have got a lot lighter since I last went shopping!) and the staff are happy for me to wear them indoors for a week or so and return if necessary. I also explained that I will be taking them to my podiatrist for him to give them the ok - the staff were fab and I can return them if the podiatrist is not happy with. - I'm trying to wean myself off my orthotics for reasons not dissimilar to the ideas put forth in the post by MJHALEY.

Thanks all for your suggestions and just to pass on the info that Moti also offered me a 10% discount as a Les Croups member - which was volunteered not asked for.

Fab service all round.
