As the next stage in the review of the Club training sessions we have now added Tuesday Night Track sessions to what the Club offers, these will be based at Cardiff International Sports Stadium in Leckwith. These sessions are open to everyone, and we would like to see Club members join us for the session. There will be a programme of sessions which will be followed, but this can be tailored for those new to the track. The idea is that we will eventually have several groups running based on pace so that people have a group to train with, but unfortunately we are unable to allocate Group Leaders to all groups, so it might be worth speaking to people who are roughly your pace and see if you can start generating interest between yourselves.

The session will start at 7pm ~ so you will need to be Warmed Up ready for then, some people arrive around 6.30pm to WU, while others run to the session and arrive just before 7pm.

I'll be there from 6.30pm during January and then on the first Tuesday of each month there after for anyone who is new to the track and unsure how it works.

THESE CHANGES WILL TAKE EFFECT FROM TUESDAY 6TH JANUARY 2015

Great stuff Phil. Tuesday track sessions with insurance (not that I've ever got injured on the track, touch wood). When are you going post the schedule? :-)

Should be there before 7pm.

I'll probably adjust my effort because I've entered the indoor 800m on Sunday. A certain Mr Oxlade has also entered.

I think it is realy good that we now have properly organised trainning sessions. I used to read about clubs who had properly organised trainnig sessions and wonder why we never had them. The club was different them too. Anything anyome can to do improve club particuarly as more clubs come onto the scene ( I've loads of new vest in the last couple of years) has to be a good thing. It's good that the sessions are on the site so people can't make the sessions eg work, college course etc they can do the session when it suits them.

Training Page updated now as well - as a warm up, why not come along to tonight's hill session - you know it makes sense!

Thanks for the training schedule, Phil. An important 'marathon' training session for me, when I can make it.

Great to see others battling the elements and training at the short stuff (including the hill sessions on Monday nights).

Thanks for organising Phil, that's really helpful. Paul and I will definitely be back regularly at track after we come back from Portugal end of February. Hopefully the temperature will be in double digits by then LOL

Can I ask how far is one mile on the track? I know 10k is 20 odd laps and is futher than 1 mile.

Tracey 1 mile = 1609.4 metres. Given that a track is 400 metres, One mile = 4 laps + 9.4 metres.
Similarly, 40 miles is 160 laps plus 374 metres.
So get yourself along to Jenner Park on 8 March as part of your ongoing athletic education.
I will ensure that the toilets are stocked with Andrex (not the tacky cheap stuff you find in Leckwith).

Thanks Mick. Maths is not one of my strong points. Talking of toilets I think I'm going to have to have a talk to Grahame about the toilets at the Cross Challenge there was no toilet paper there never mind Andrex!
