Hi All. I just missed out for the Semi-Final. The Peruvian that just beat me in my heat by 400th of a second, qualified, it was that close. My quickest time for 5 years though. (31.58s) I have the 400m Heats on Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing all you distance guys on Thurs, can help you with travel and registration etc.

Well done Mel - frustrating to miss out on the semis by such a small margin, but with your best time for 5 years, you did really well. Make up for it in the 400m. See you later in the week.

Fabulous effort Mel. Hope that you have some pictures. Any news on the GB relays yet?

Just checked the weather forecast for Lyon - temperatures rising to 33 C on Wednesday, dropping to 29 on Thursday, rain on Friday and 23 C on Sat and Sunday.

Suntan lotion / waterproofs?

Looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the team.

I know that it sounds like an infection but ... I'm starting to get itchy feet.

I have a video of Mel's silver medal race which I will try to upload when I can get the technology sorted - it is 8 minutes long in total so struggling to upload at the moment. Also I have a sequel to Mick's dancing exploits from the Lyon archives which will be uploaded soon.

I've been able to collate all the Croups performances, even though the individual road results are not yet up on the official site - they do appear on power of 10. (Age is calculated at day 1 of the overall competition, NOT on the day of the actual competition).

MEL JAMES:
9 AUG: Heat 4 M70 200 metres: 4th 31.51 secs.
12 AUG: Heat 5 M70 400 metres: 4th 72.32 secs.
14 AUG: SF 2 M70 400 metres: 8th 73.16 secs.
16 AUG: M70 4 x 400 metres: 1. GERMANY 4:38.02; 2. GB & NI 4:40.62; 3. FINLAND 4:52.13.
BRITISH SILVER MEDALLISTS: MEL JAMES, TERRY BISSETT, LAURENCE OLDFIELD, WINSTON LAING.

DAVE COLES:
16 AUG: M55 Marathon: 13th 3:02:56

MARTIN WILLIAMS:
16 AUG: M50 Half Marathon: 27th 1:23:31

MICK McGEOCH:
16 AUG: M55 Half Marathon: 25th 1:33:48

SANDY JOHNSTON:
16 AUG: M65 Half Marathon: 6th 1:31:13

MIKE DAVIES:
16 AUG: M65 Half Marathon: 21st 1:46:15

RALPH DAVEY:
16 AUG: M70 Half Marathon: 20th 1:54:20

CLARE JOHNSON:
16 AUG: F70 Half Marathon: 5th 2:07:07

Road events also comprised team competition on a 3 to score, cumulative time basis.
M55 Half Marathon: 1. FRANCE 3:56:08; 2. GB & NI 4:27:25; 3. SPAIN 4:30:58.
BRITISH SILVER MEDALLISTS: COLIN FEECHAN 1:21:04, STEPHEN SMYTHE 1:32:33, MICK McGEOCH 1:33:48.

M65 Half Marathon: 1. FINLAND 4:37:27; 2. FRANCE 4:40:06; 3. GB & NI 4:52:26.
BRITISH BRONZE MEDALLISTS: SANDY JOHNSTON 1:31:13, STEVE HERINGTON 1:39:38, TREVOR EDGLEY 1:41:35.

Of course, the press love a nice medal table at the end of such championships:
1 FRANCE 106 GOLD, 97 SILVER, 81 BRONZE (total 284)
2 GERMANY 105 GOLD, 78 SILVER, 75 BRONZE (258)
3 GB & NI 60 GOLD, 49 SILVER, 55 BRONZE (164)
4 USA 57 GOLD, 60 SILVER, 43 BRONZE (160)
5 AUSTRALIA 52 GOLD, 44 SILVER, 44 BRONZE (140)

A total of 98 nations were represented with 65 nations receiving at least one medal.
If Les Croupiers were a nation (I know, we're much, much more than that!) we'd have finished 57th in the table with two silver and one bronze medal (ahead of Iceland, Philippines, Luxumbourg, Turkey, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong.

A story to be hopefully updated.........

Thanks Mick.

I'm sure that it must have taken a considerable amount of time to provide such detail for all our members.

Has anyone designed the Les Croupiers Running Club flag?

Very funny Mick - if Les Croupiers were a nation, we would have been 57th! Also we have the capabilities within the club to have won team medals from just the club, let alone from all the clubs in the UK. For Malaga in 2018 and Lisbon in the Europeans in May next year, we need to get more involved in our quest to rule the world.

Thanks for the summary of information - the results were up on the Lyon2015 website, but when the team results appeared, the individual results disappeared mysteriously.

Dave you can recall the individual results, by going on the W M Championships website and click on the last day's results at Parilly Stadium.
