Ouch that hurt! The going was firm, making the downhills even more cartilage shredding than normal

But well done everyone who ran, especially PeterT for winning 1st SnrMV

Thanks Tim and for not calling the Police when I was peering through your window at 7.30am trying to get a lift off you. Hard race,but hopefully good practice for the castles.

a good race - well organised , you can enter on the day, less than 10 quid.

I wish other races were this cheap and easy to enter.

Well run All.

Marshalling was excellent, so to the free pint. But nuts that less than a hundred enter whilst godzillions clamber to gain a place in other events. I do hate the course's order of play though (anticlockwise) - means the climbs mostly soft terrain (trail, dirt road, grass), the downhills mostly on concrete and tarmac. Reversing the course would make be so much nicer for those of us who's joints are in tatters

I think that could be the issue Tim and perhaps cause of a lower turn out. It's a good tough race, but it can be hazardous. I still have a toe problem that originated on that race a year ago! So I think some runners have to avoid it if they are injury prone or not wanting to take the risk.

My legs, Julie Scholey & Gemma Nurse can all testify to the fact I both started and finished... guess I'll have to chase this up with the organisers. No speed session for me tonight as after Sirhowy yesterday, I'm as achy as I was after the marathon!

Looking at the results, I'm convinced I've been confused with Karen Smith-Marks, as that finish time is mine, and there were no runners finishing 4-5 secs before or after me. Just not sure how I go about rectifying this ... will be gutted to miss out, as it's club champs.

glad to hear it..

mind you the course the other way around would have a 50 meter severe down just before the water stop.. that was quite a hike coming up.. not sure I'd want to run down it..

however you look at it.. a great race.. yes a bit difficult in places...but still cheap and enter on the day..

@Karen - glad to hear it! Will call off the hounds..
@James - easily solved. Avoid Machen Mtn and stick to that nice, flat, rail-track path (out and back..)

@Tim,

Tim I say NO, The mountain is half the challenge of course.. otherwise you'd get the dainty runners doing the run..
