Not tempted - YET!!! I'm in the New York ballot and won't know whether I get in or not until late March. I may consider it then (if its not full!).

You can pick up places much nearer the time as folks pull out. Join their FB page or twitter for updates.

so why not enter now and you can easy pass on your place later.. if you get into new york..

and if you all book petes eats.. we could have the upstairs to ourselves.. 1 twin room, 8 in bunk room.. and they have a kitchen.. be a nice beer room afterwards !

I think I'll wait and decide closer to the time (well July/August).
I'm sure there will be withdrawals due to injuries, etc.

This is from the Welsh Athletics Newsletter for those that haven't seen it...

Snowdonia Marathon places
The organisers of the Snowdonia marathon have made a limited number of spaces available for Welsh-qualified runners, who are currently registered with Welsh Athletics and aged over 35 (men and women).
All interested parties should contact Paul Brooks with their details: name, address, date of birth, club and registration number and send them with a cheque for £30 made out to "Snowdonia marathon" to: Paul Brooks, 15 Llys Celyn, Leeswood, Mold CH7 4UQ.
The spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

How realistic is it for someone who has never run a marathon before, in fact someone who's longest run is around the 15 miles mark to be ready for this in time?

I do a long run of around 13-14 miles pretty much weekly and can do that no problem but I am aware that the jump from 14 to 26 miles is huge. I am also away for 3 weeks over July / October so realistically will not be able to start training until the end of August properly.

Should I just leave it until next year and stick with my plan of my 1st Marathon being the Great Welsh next year?

Perfectly realistic to train to complete it from your current level of training. It depends what your goals are in doing it. E.g. if you have a time in mind or just want to enjoy it etc.

Cheers Stephen. The aim would be to complete it and not be in last position.. If I am honest I would obviously like a reasonable time but I have no idea what a reasonable time would be for me at this point!

I shall think on this tonight and make a decision for tomorrow. Cheers for letting u sknow about these possible extra places.

Honestly Marcus, you SO don't have anything to worry about. Just do it as a try out for your official marathon in spring. It won't be the fastest you will ever do, but you will not have difficulty getting to the distance in the time you have to train, and your times at other distances mean there is absolutely no possibility of you coming last, unless you are thinking of doing it in a suit of armour.
