Hi All!

British Masters Road Relays @ Sutton Park - Saturday 18th May 2019

The British Masters Road Relays will once again be held at Sutton Park, Birmingham on Saturday 18th May 2019, we’ve had a smaller showing the last 3 years, but we have had many good success here picking up medals over the years.

We’re looking for names of those who are available, based on this a decision will then be made as to whether or not we enter teams, any teams will be as competitive as possible. We should be able to send at least one team per age group to this event and in some age groups more.

We need names by 20:00 on Wednesday 24th April

Timetable:
10:30 FV35, FV45
10:35 FV55, FV65
12:25 MV55, MV65
14:00 MV35
14:05 MV45

Men's teams :
35+ = 6 runners
45+ = 4 runners
55+ = 3 runners
65+ = 3 runners

Ladies teams :
35+ = 4 runners
45+ = 3 runners
55+ = 3 runners
65+ = 3 runners

All runners run 3 miles

The Club will provide a coach as transport to the event and will also pay the entry fee. Approximate times are leaving the Club 06:45 and leaving Sutton Park 17:00

I think today is the closing date for applications, so I guess it depends on who has put their hand up. But it would be great if we could get two M65+ teams.

**As far as I’m now aware. No coach has been booked at the moment. Hopefully someone is organising. I’m not involved in this**

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Sutton Park. Should I say that?

Still hoping for two M65 teams next year.

Thanks to all those who made it possible.

https://www.race-results.co.uk/results/2019/

Results available above. Well done to everyone who ran, and the supporters.

The performances were super-consistent.
But I'd like to mention one runner who ran for Les Croupiers, despite us not fielding a team in his age category.
Having had niggling injuries this year, Richie Bullen went to Sutton Park to support Yvonne, and still had a run.
That was his 13th performance in these championships - brilliant commitment.
However, seeing as he's now in his 32nd year as Treasurer, I'm not surprised.
Well done, Richie!

Thanks Mick - flattery will get you everywhere! Not too sure about my commitment though - I've missed quite a few. And as you're so into nostalgia here's some for you.
I ran my first relay at Sutton Coldfield Park on the 7 April 1979, for Sparkhill Harriers, in the Midland 12 Stage. Third leg for the 'B' team - 3.1 miles in 17m 38s.
However first race ever at the park was a year earlier, 2 April 1978, Midlands Young Athletes X-C League, fixture IV, Under 17 Boys Race; 15th out of 27.
Cheers to all you lucky youngsters who were not even born before 1980!!
