Amongst other things, Christmas gives us an opportunity to race somewhere different. There are lots of opportunities and great events around which aren't too far away.
I've always been attracted by races with long histories. One such event is the Clevedon Boxing Day Race. I've only done it once - 2 years ago. The race was first held in 1948, although the website will say 1977 - because that's the year Clevedon AC were formed. In 2017 the race had 1000+ finishers for the first time. It's a single circuit, advertised as 4 miles, but slightly shorter than that. Flat and very fast for the fist 2 miles, there is a sharp climb which lasts for 3 minutes (at my pace) then descends to the finish. Its profile reminds me of a combination of Nos Galan (old version) and Round the Island Races, with the standard at the front end being equally good. I know Huw Evans plans to run, so there's a good recommendation.
Our good friends at Clevedon have been staunched supporters of our Castles Relay for many years.

Glynneath falls into category of 'not too far away' and it remains one of my favourites, even after 13 times. There were about 10 Croups there yesterday inc. 3 couples vying for the husband & wife category. Well done to all!

Well done, Gerry - a man after my own heart in terms of sequences.
And well done to Emyr and Janneke on a successful defence of their title.

Missed Jon and Jenny from earlier post:
155 346 Jenny Martin 00:40:07 00:39:46 V40 4 Female 27 Husband / Wife Team 2M 15
311 345 Jon Martin 00:53:29 00:52:56 V40 36 Male 203 Husband / Wife Team 2M 15
To Mick's list of winners - Kris Jones shows the way in terms of gradually chipping away at his p.b. It would be nice to see a Les Croupiers name there!
