Cardiff Running Events Summer challenge and Summer Sizzler dates and rules (website)
please see the attached screenshot of the dates for quick reference

Please see Marcus' post of 03.07.20 for how these relate to the club championships

It's worth noting that the start/finish elevation rules (at the bottom of the CRE website page) are a little stricter than the previous events, so some extra planning might be warranted!

I've never raced a 1k before, so that should be a pretty interesting one!

NB. As a disclaimer, I'm in no way responsible or representative of these events nor am I a committee member responsible for championship scoring.
This post is purely for the benefit of those (like myself) who aren't in the Facebook/Social media loop so that everyone can avail of information within the club forum.
I've opened a topic for the corresponding long course challenges, which the dates are set for later in 2020.

Amazing running from everyone over the 4 day window for the Summer Challenge 1k (results)
49 Croups registered times with what looks like 10 independent age category-leading times. My time certainly wasn't close to being one of those!

For anyone not on Facebook, this message from Sarah (see image below) was posted there on Saturday morning. I only saw it this morning but thought I'd post it here for wider availability.

The rules from CRE are clearly stricter for these events and enforcement is going to be more punitive than for the original summer series.
Basically, no point-to-point running or downhill courses. The start/stop points should be approximately in the same place and have the same elevation!

I think is fair, especially as the CRE team are doing this for free and for the benefit of the greater Cardiff running community.

I'm sure most runners wouldn't intentionally do this but it would be shame to see peoples efforts reduced or cancelled out from a simple oversight of the regulations.

Thanks Martin.

A useful reminder of the etiquette of virtual races.

Thanks also to Cardiff Running Events/Sarah for keeping those of us in the "shires" involved.
