I spotted this event yesterday and thought it sounded interesting. On Sunday 21st September the first Worcester City 10k event will take place. In addition to this there is a 'Run Bike Run' event covering 50k - the 10k run followed by a 35k bike ride and finishing with a 5k run in Worcester Racecourse.

Further details can be found on the website:

http://worcestercityrun.com/

I mentioned this to Marcus Meyrick and John Payne at parkrun this morning who were both very keen. I was thinking of entering just the 10k but may have to dust off my bike now and get some practice in!

As an added incentive, Paula Radcliffe has announced that she'll be running the 10k.

There are also U11 (1 mile) and U16 (3k) races if anyone was thinking of taking their children along.

The date also falls right in the middle between the Cardiff 10k and Cardiff Half Marathon.

I was very interested in this however unfortunately I have already entered the Swansea Bay 10k on the same day. I could certainly be persuaded to drop the 10k in favour of the Worcester race if we get a few people going up though.

One thing.. the run-bike-run (isn't that a duathlon?) is not cheap at £60.

Sorry Marcus, I hadn't realised that Swansea was the same day. I agree with you that the entry isn't cheap either. The 10k on its own is £25 which is similar to the Cardiff 10k which makes you think how Caerphilly was such a bargain. I suppose that when you have such a big course to cater for running and cycling though that there's an awful lot more organisation and road closures needed and I suppose they also need to consider security for everyone's bikes while they're out running the course.

I don't feel so bad having paid £75 for a ticket to see The Who in December when race entry fees cost so much.

I am still interested in this.. I could certainly be persuaded if a few people head up for it and if possible I could give my 10k away to enter this. I understand the reasons for the £60 so would still consider it even at this price.
